Last weekend the ACL Southeast Conference Event #1 was held in St Augustine where the top players from Florida, Georgia, Mississippi and Alabama competed in multiple tournaments at 4 different skill divisions. Friday night kicked off with Women’s Doubles, Juniors & Senior Singles followed by 4 man Crew. The question on everyone’s mind was who was going to win the Women’s event. For the first time the ACL Southeast Conference offered doubles rather than singles for the women’s event. Would the 2020 World Women’s Champs, Sarah Cassidy & Cheyenne Renner (both ACL Pros) take the title or would the 2019 Women’s Champs, Rosie Streker (South Florida Cornhole) & Sam Finley (both ACL Pros) get the win?

Well, we had a preview as the two teams met in the winners bracket with the 2020 champs taking that first match which boosted them into the “Queen Seat” with a spot in the finals. And after that loss, the 2019 Champs didn’t look back. They focused and found their rhythm and caught fire landing themselves into the championship match vs you know who. Cheyenne and Sarah continued throwing heat and got out to a 13-0 start and were 7 points away from the title. The following round the tables turned and Rosie & Sam capitalized on a couple misses by the 2020 Champs and found themselves in a tie game which they pulled off the victory 2 rounds later forcing a sudden death game 2. But Sam & Rosie held on their focus and composure as they put on an amazing display to take home the victory.

Congrats to all the top teams. And also congrats to our other South Florida Cornhole player Lori Dool (ACL Pro) who placed 3rd with her women’s partner April Chismark (Southeast Tournament Director & ACL Pro).
